Common questions

Where do the exchange rates come from?

From the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, which Zwap gets through the free Frankfurter API. The ECB publishes a new rate once each working day, around 16:00 Central European Time, and Zwap checks for a newer one whenever you open the app.

Why is my rate a little different from Google or my bank?

Zwap shows the official daily reference rate. Search engines show a live market rate that moves by the minute, and banks and card providers add their own margin. On a weekday the two are usually within a fraction of a percent; over a weekend, Friday's rate stands until Monday.

Does Zwap work offline?

Units always does: it is arithmetic on your phone. Money keeps the last rates it fetched and tells you when they may be out of date.

What does the Z button do?

It moves your number to the other card, from dollars to euros, say, and tapping it again brings it back. To change the currencies or units themselves, tap the currency or unit on a card.

Can I copy or share a conversion?

Yes. Long-press a card to copy the result, copy it as an image, or share it.

What does Zwap need?

An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and an internet connection only for fresh exchange rates.

Does Zwap collect my data?

No. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking. The privacy policy has the details.
